Megan’s sourdough on the rise

Luxembourg couple make their home in Tuam

A PASSION for baking and an outright refusal to quit paved the way for a lady from Luxembourg to set up a dream bakery from the comfort of her own fully equipped kitchen in Tuam.

Megan Lowe moved to Galway with her husband David from her homeland in recent years and initially took on the challenge of creating high quality organic sourdough bread back in January 2021 after a spell spent working in Galway city.

Baking bread has always been a huge love of Megan’s dating back to her childhood and she recalled that she always enjoyed making food for others.

“During the pandemic I was living with my sister and I found myself struggling with my mental health,” explained Megan. “I found baking a really helpful distraction to take my mind off everything.”

After a stint living the city life, the couple felt it was time for a change of scenery. In Luxembourg, they had grown accustomed to residing in a smaller town and felt right at home in, according to Megan, the “beautiful” surrounds of Tuam…
