Minister Foley goes back to her Pres roots

Athenry school is finally opened after pandemic delay

THREE years after it welcomed students to its new school building, Presentation College Athenry has been officially opened by Education Minister Norma Foley who attended a special ceremony at the school last Friday.

The school caters for over 1,000 students and had campaigned for many years for a new building, with the school community raising the money needed to purchase the site at Ballgarraun, on which the new state of the art school and gym were built.

Minister Foley received a standing ovation from the 500 invited guests, with the school orchestra on hand to provide a musical backdrop to proceedings and First Year and Leaving Cert students giving first-hand accounts of life in the school.

Principal Cathal Moore welcomed the Minister and a host of distinguished guests and thanked the wider community of Athenry for their continued support for the new school...
