Council identifies more accommodation for Ukrainian refugees

Estimated 3,500 Ukrainians across city and county

GALWAY County Council has identified four new locations within the county where property owners are willing to provide accommodation for Ukrainian refugees.

There are now an estimated 3,500 Ukrainian refugees living in the city and county, most of whom are accommodated in hotels and hostels.

The Council has liaised with a significant number of commercial property owners who have expressed an interest in providing accommodation to the Department of Children on six-month contracts.

The Council acts as an intermediary; reviewing the property, advising the owner on the process, but is not involved in the contracts or payments…
