Fears criminals being fed local information

THE STRAIN being placed on rural Gardaí in Galway has again been highlighted by the spate of burglaries last weekend in the Moylough, Mountbellew, Clonberne, Kilkerrin and surrounding areas.

John Fleming lives in Moylough. He and his wife Margaret were in La Coruna in Spain over the weekend with their son Jack, to watch their other son Ian play in a GAA tournament, when their home was broken into.

“I wouldn’t have cared if there was €5,000 on the kitchen table and they’d taken it. It’s the fact that these vermin scum were in our house,” said John. “I have a hatchet in the house now and I will use it if I have to.”

A small amount of money was taken from the home, and a back window of the house was used by the criminals to gain entry. Blood was found at the scene and was taken away for analysis…
