Nearly 30 signatures in group objection to proposed arcade in Tuam

SEVERAL business owners and residents in Tuam have called for a proposed gaming arcade in the town to be refused planning permission.

Local Galway East Independent TD Sean Canney has also signed a petition that is included in a group objection to the plans lodged with Galway County Council.

County planners are due to issue a decision on the application early next week. The plans have been lodged by Cork-based Coalquay Leisure Ltd, which has operated similar businesses around the country.

It wants to transform the former Tuam Bookshop building on Vicar Street in the town centre into a gaming-amusement arcade on the ground floor with storage and staff use on the first floor…
