Ukrainians evacuated by Williamstown bus driver depart

A WILLIAMSTOWN businessman, who featured in an RTE documentary on Ukrainian refugees this week, says there are more Ukrainians returning to their homeland than arriving in Ireland seeking safety.

Aidan Geraghty, who owns and runs Geraghty Travel in Castlerea, has made three trips to Eastern Europe since March of this year, bringing aid and helping Ukrainian people flee their war-torn country.

He was one of those to feature in The War at Home, that was broadcast on RTE One on Monday night that charted the experience of Ukrainian refugees who have come to Ireland since Russia invaded their country last February.

Speaking to The Tuam Herald this week, Aidan said he had been deeply moved by his experience, having travelled to Ukraine twice since his original mission to the Polish border to bring refugees to Ireland…
