Bus café has been the ticket to making a dream a reality

Drive-thru coffee shop already a popular pit stop

FROM banker to bus driver – an Ardrahan woman has made Ballymacward her home and now Mountbellew her business base.

Since the start of the year Derval Nutley has transformed a retired Dublin double-decker bus into a colourful café on wheels. It was an idea that was brewing in her head for some years and buying the bus online last August, made the final decision for her.

Having worked at AIB in Athenry for ten years, it was while she was on maternity leave last year that the idea really took off. “I kept putting it off for different reasons,” says Derval, who wanted to create a café space where mums and families could hang out in comfort …
