Holy Wells of Galway next big project for heritage consultant Zena

ZENA HOCTOR is a freelance heritage consultant. Her work takes her to communities the length and breadth of Galway. She also has a presence in Clare and has worked in other counties.

Zena has been involved in heritage audits in Ballygar, Creggs, Ballyglunin and Dunmore, and is currently undertaking an audit of the features of Mullagh and Killoran parish.

Sr Agnes Curley and the Eco Congregation of Tuam Parish enlisted Zena’s assistance recently with regard to the Abbey Trinity Holy Well, located on the grounds of the Abbey Trinity estate in the town. A blessing of the well was due to take place on Saturday June 25, but the inclement weather meant that the group had to go indoors to the Synod Hall for the ceremony.

Zena is carrying out a project detailing the 311 holy wells in County Galway, hence the reason why the Eco Congregation of Tuam Parish came in contact with her.
