Development a ‘huge relief’ to community

PARISHIONERS in Ballyglunin can look forward to a final resting place closer to home with the development of a burial ground next to Brooklodge church.

The site of just over one acre has been gifted by the Brooklodge Pastoral Council to Kilmoylan Cemetery Committee, who in conjunction with Galway County Council are developing the land as a graveyard.

Work is underway on site to install a carpark and pathways as well as marking out plots and the hope is the graveyard will be ready for consecration in the coming months.

Burial plots in the locality have been at a premium in recent years with the graveyard in Kilmoylan almost at capacity. An extension to that graveyard has been ruled out so people living in Corofin, Turloughmore and Abbeyknockmoy were limited in their options for a final resting place…
