Water treatment units bound for Ukraine

Systems will be controlled remotely from Athenry

TWO water treatment systems with the ability to produce daily drinking water for 12,000 people were sent from Athenry to Ukraine recently on separate 40-foot shipping containers.

Coffey Group civil engineering and construction firm developed the water treatment systems at their base in Athenry. A team of between 15 to 20 people, including mechanical fitters, electricians, engineers and project managers put the structures together.

Coffey Group has an agreement with Irish Water, whereby they produce modular water filtration systems to be deployed in an Irish town requiring emergency relief where a boil water notice may be in place.

A number of the treatment systems are kept in stock in Athenry in case Irish Water needs to use them promptly...
