Tidy Towns committee does not have funding to carry out regular rubbish removal

RATHER than acting as a deterrent, the ‘no dumping’ signs scattered across Dunmore Graveyard have attracted would-be litterers to leave rubbish beside and underneath them.

The pictures supplied to The Tuam Herald show plastic bottles, wreaths, pots, grass and other materials left at two of the signs inside the graveyard grounds.

The greater amount of rubbish was left beside the sign inside the main gate, while the other sign is situated at the entrance on the Ballymoney Road, a sign that was put up a couple of years ago.

There are other signs dotted around the graveyard, within it and on its perimeter, all of them commissioned by Galway County Council …
