Tuam ruled out for Sludge Hub

Cllr warns public ‘can't take foot off pedal’

TUAM has been ruled out as a possible location for the establishment of new regional Sludge Hub.

The confirmation from Irish Water comes three years after The Tuam Herald first revealed that the town had been identified as one of two locations being assessed for the large facility.

The hub would have taken liquid sludge from smaller treatment plants and there were concerns that thousands of truckloads of sludge would have been brought to Tuam from towns across the western region, and possibly beyond.
