St Mary’s Cathedral hosts enthronement of new Tuam Bishop

Reverend Michael Burrows takes up post

TUAM’S new Bishop of the United Dioceses of Tuam, Limerick and Killaloe was enthroned at a ceremony at St Mary’s Cathedral in the town on Sunday afternoon.

The Rt Reverend Michael Burrows, former Bishop of Cashel, Ferns and Ossory, was elected by the Episcopal College to his new role last January.

He succeeds the Rt Reverend Patrick Rooke (formerly Bishop of Tuam, Killala and Achonry) and the Rt Reverend Dr Kenneth Kearon (formerly Bishop of Limerick and Killaloe), who both retired at the end of October 2021, at which time the two dioceses were united.
