Appeal for public to report all accidents to help secure improvement works

Cllrs tell of accident blackspots but no records exist

MEMBERS of the public are being asked to report all road accidents to An Garda Síochána, no matter how minor, so that Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) will be able to make accurate decisions regarding road safety works in the future.

Local councillors in the Tuam area have previously made numerous pleas to Galway County Council and the TII to carry out improvement works at two junctions, Grange Cross and Balrobuck, on the Galway to Headford road – otherwise, they say, there will be people killed.

However, a recent survey carried out by TII determined neither section met specific criteria that was required to proceed.
