Half-Galway, but no half measures as Aishling a worthy winner

Behind the scenes of the making of one of Ireland's most popular talent contests which was filmed in Claregalway.

BACKSTAGE at TG4’s Glór Tíre Country Music talent contest, it was bustling and noisy during a 12-hour day and, yet, you could hear a pin drop when the winner was announced at 10.20 p.m. last Tuesday night.

A 20-year-old student from Tipperary, Aishling Rafferty, whose father John is a Galway native, was the winner, with Ballinasloe’s Rachel Goode and Donegal’s Kenny Crawford the runners-up.

From 11 am, those involved started arriving at Claregalway’s ‘Cue One -Studio 5’ for the filming, and the set, a former warehouse, looked almost like something out of a Hollywood movie.
