Anyone earning under €30,000 is struggling to cope

HEADFORD resource centre is experiencing five times the volume of calls for financial help since the start of the year as families and individuals struggle to cope with the spiralling cost of living.

John Middleton, manager of Solas Family Resource Centre, said that they are getting up to five calls a week from people who cannot cope with the constant financial pressures of maintaining a home and travelling to and from work.

“Six months ago, we got the odd call every now and again, but since Christmas we have between four and five calls every week from people seeking help,” he said.
