St Jarlath's captain Sean Bermingham in action against Colaiste Bhaile Chláir's Cillian Whelan and Jack Lonergan in last Saturday's Connacht PPS Senior 'A' semi-final at Tuam Stadium. (Full report in this week's The Tuam Herald.)

Tuam Stadium to host eagerly awaited Connacht Colleges decider

St Jarlath's College to face St Colman's of Claremorris

THEY weren't the most likely Connacht Post Primary Senior A Football Championship final pairing before a ball was kicked in the competition, but there's no doubt St. Jarlath's, Tuam and St. Colman's, Claremorris are there on merit.

Managed by Micheál Keane, Niall Coyne and Andrew Carney, Jarlath's have leaned heavily on their captain Seán Birmingham for scores and a very impressive defence en route to the final.

After losing a humdinger of a Galway Senior A Championship decider to the Bish before Christmas, Jarlath's were ready when championship rolled around and overcame a well-fancied St. Gerald's, Castlebar (0-9 to 0-7) and Coláiste Bhaile Chláir (0-7 to 0-3) to reach the decider.

St. Colman's joint-managers are Brian Roache, Seamus Curry and Eoghan Collins, the Ballyhaunis clubman who lines out for Clare at inter-county level.
