A YOUNG Turloughmore man has been named IPAV Novice Rostrum Auctioneer of the Year following his success at an event in Co Meath.

Darren Hession, 23, beat off competition from eight other young auctioneers from all over Ireland at the event at Tattersalls in Ratoath on Friday.

His prize will see him travel to Texas in the United States in June for a week’s intensive training with America’s Auction Academy.

He also received the Ron Duff Memorial Rose Bowl trophy, which he will retain for the next year.
