KILKERRIN-Clonberne defender Sarah Gormally has played a key role in her side's progress to the All-Ireland senior club final.

Gormally balances busy career with passion for football

Ennis-based vet has starred for Kilkerrin-Clonberne

SOME evenings, as Sarah Gormally shoots up the motorway from Ennis, there’s a danger that she might just meet herself coming back.

Despite living the life of a busy veterinarian working long hours in County Clare, Gormally always makes time to pursue her passion – ladies football with Kilkerrin-Clonberne – even if that demands racking up the miles and hours between the provinces.

“Yes, I am based in Ennis as a vet, so, like that, I finish at six and then race up here to get to training at seven most evenings. And, then, it is back down again. So, yeah, it is busy on the road,” she smiles.

Gormally is one of many Kilkerrin-Clonberne players making long journeys, with the likes of Dublin-based duo Nicola Ward and Siobhán Divilly among the others returning from different parts of the country for training several times a week.
