THE late Jim Fahy.

Former Tuam Herald reporter Jim Fahy has died

KILRICKLE native and former The Tuam Herald reporter Jim Fahy has died following a short illness at the age of 75.

Jim Fahy, who also served as RTE’s Western Correspondent for many years, began his career with The Tuam Herald newspaper in 1965.

During his nine year with the paper, he covered a multitude of stories and subjects and was the first journalist from a provincial newspaper to report from Free Derry in 1969.

He left the Herald in March 1974 to take up the position of RTE’s Western Correspondent, a post he held until his retirement in December 2011. He was RTE’s longest serving regional correspondent.

He lived in Gardenfield in Tuam.

All at The Tuam Herald would like to extend their deepest sympathy to his wife Christina (nee O’Reilly), their children Shane and Aideen, grandchildren, extended family and a long line of friends.
