Irish Country ladies are waiting for the times to get better

Country Queen Philomena Begley is waiting for the times to get better in 2022 and longing to get the dancers jiving again for her 80th birthday. Meanwhile, a much younger Country lady, Mary Duff, is also waiting for the times to get better with a new band. Coincidentally, both ladies sing the Crystal Gayle hit ‘Waiting for the Times to Get Better’ on their live shows.

Both ladies have found the Covid19 restrictions incredibly hard to deal with as their lives have revolved around music for decades. Philomena is fronting bands for over 50 years while Mary fronted two bands before working with Daniel O’Donnell for 30 years until she started a new career only a fortnight before Covid hit in 2020.

Philosophically, Mary Duff said it is what it is and not working for the past two years as a singer, apart from singing at Sunday Mass, has become the new reality for her.
