Debate over flood risk to lands earmarked for job use

MOYLOUGH Councillor Michael Connolly said he was not in favour of setting aside a piece of land in Headford for future enterprise development while it has the potential to flood.

The strip of land is located on the eastern side of the N84 road, just outside the town of Headford towards Galway city, directly across the road from Joyce's Hardware Store.

Chief Executive of Galway County Council Jim Cullen had recommended that it have its status as an area for employment usage removed. This recommendation, included in the draft County Development Plan, was met with opposition by a number of Councillors local to the Headford and Tuam area when it was discussed at an online meeting.
