Street art gives Glenamaddy spark of life

BATS, birds and the wily fox. These are some of the images that adorn the electricity utility boxes in Glenamaddy.

Across three days, three artists painted more than 20 of the boxes, bringing renewed life and colour to the North Galway town.

The idea came from the local Tidy Towns committee, and their secretary specifically, Louise Conlon. Louise was walking along Abbeygate Street in Galway City early into the New Year and noticed a woman painting a utility box on the street.
