Glynn the hat-trick hero in historic Sylane win

THE latest milestone in Sylane's progress in Galway hurling arrived on Sunday morning as a Shane Glynn hat-trick followed by further second half goals from Cathal Burke and Keelan Creaven were the highlights in an unexpected victory over Moycullen that set up a first Intermediate Championship quarter-final appearance in the club's history.

Only a far-fetched combination of results - a heavy defeat to the already though Moycullen plus a landside win for Kilbeacanty over Annaghdown at the same time in Ballinderreen - could have denied Ronan Higgins' side qualification in Salthill. Nothing was left to chance by Sylane, however, as a storming second half display took the scalp of last year's runners-up.
