Still all to play for in SFC

FIFTEEN teams remain in contention in this year's Galway Senior Football Championship ahead of the final round of group matches on Saturday and Sunday week.

Salthill-Knocknacarra, An Cheathrú Rua and Cortoon Shamrocks became the first clubs to bow out of the competition, with the latter two guaranteed to be involved in the upcoming relegation playoffs.

Maigh Cuilinn are through to the last eight with a round to spare and though St James’ and Tuam Stars' (Group 1), Mountbellew-Moylough (Group 2) and Corofin (Group 4) sit top of their respective sections, the reigning champions are the only team to book their place in the last eight so far.

From knockout qualification to securing survival, most of the serious business still needs to be sorted. The top two in each group will go forward to the quarter-finals where pairings will be decided on an open draw basis.
