Covid cases force closure of Abbey school

A NORTH Galway primary school has been forced to close amid an outbreak of Covid-19 among its pupils.

Newtown National School in Abbeyknockmoy was notified of the first case of Covid-19 last Thursday when a child in one of the senior classes tested positive.

A second case was detected over the weekend and the school’s Board of Management made the decision to close the school on Monday evening, for the remainder of this week.
