Venetia’s tireless work in Headford honoured with Volunteer of Year accolade

A HEADFORD woman who has played a key role in setting up several community groups in the town down through the years has been named as the Volunteer of the Year at this year’s Cathaoirleach Awards.

Venetia McEllin was given the prestigious award at an online ceremony last month where the then Cathaoirleach, Cllr James Charity, cited the words of her nominee who described her as the ‘backbone of community development in Headford’.

Cllr Charity said that Venetia’s nomination had eloquently described her as a role model and the backbone of community development.
