Vaccination gives nursing home staff and residents hope

TUAM’S Imelda Carty, who has been 40 years working as a Health Care Assistant in Aras Mhuire Community Nursing Unit in Tuam, says getting the Covid vaccine gives everyone a fresh chance.

Imelda was among the staff and residents of the unit who received their second dose of the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine last week.

It’s been a tough year for everyone at the unit, says Clinical Nurse Manager Caroline Fahy, especially the lack of contact for residents and their families.
