Inspiring the next Music Generation

MUSIC is one of the things that have made 2020 more bearable for many people, and the gift of music is being handed on to hundreds of schoolchildren throughout Co Galway.

These include primary school children in Tuam Educate Together, and the second level students of McHale College.

Established in 2010, the Music Generation programme was set up to provide accessible music education for children across Ireland. First piloted in Galway in 2018, it has gone from strength-to-strength in the two years since its introduction in the county.

"The response from students has been absolutely positive and it’s just fantastic. The students’ self-esteem, confidence and well-being are all looked after.”

Through a mixture of in-school and after-school projects, Music Generation is providing Galway’s schoolchildren with high-quality subsidised music education from junior infants right through the end of secondary school.
