Athenry traders’ group pledge to march for major development

A body representing local businesses in Athenry has voiced their approval towards a potential new multi-million euro retail and housing development for the town.
In a statement to The Tuam Herald, the Athenry Traders Group said they “fully support” the current planning application which would incorporate a Lidl discount supermarket, seven retail units, a crèche and a total of 92 houses and apartments on the 17-acre site where the Athenry House building is currently situated.
Galway County Council is expected to make a decision relating to the planning application on November 18 and long-standing business owners in the town are keen for it to be given the go-ahead.
