Farewell to a friend to all

TUAM came to a standstill last Friday as the town bade farewell to a stalwart of sport and education in the town, the man simply known as Stockie.
Francis ‘Stockie’ Stockwell, 59, from Tullinadaly Road, passed away in Galway Hospice on Wednesday evening after a long illness.
Survived by his wife Olga, son Jamie and daughter Bobbi, Stockie was known for his kindness and humility, despite a glittering sporting career at school, club and county level. The large number of current and past pupils from St Jarlath’s College in attendance at the funeral was a testament to the lasting influence he had on the thousands of students who passed through the school during his tenure as caretaker.
