Galway’s ‘Game of Thrones’

FIFTY-ONE games down and just one to go before Championship 2019 throws up a winner between Corofin and Tuam Stars.
We’re left with the reigning champions and resurgent challengers, roll of honour leaders and their closest pursuers, historical superpower taking on modern-day kingpin. Former schoolmates go up against schoolmates. It’s fair to say Sunday’s Galway Senior Football Championship final between Tuam Stars and Corofin is loaded with subplots (throw-in: 3.30pm).
County final day also returns to Tuam Stadium. The old ground has undergone significant changes since two years ago and new dressing-rooms as well as a fully seated terrace, thanks to Tommy Varden, will be open for business for a first-ever senior club decider.
