Silke shines as second half blitz sends Galway into final

FOR long periods it wasn’t pretty but Galway won’t care one iota as they advanced to a fourth successive Connacht final, upping the gears in the second half with the wind at their backs to cruise to a comprehensive 13-point victory over Sligo.
Three second half goals courtesy of the outstanding Liam Silke, Johnny Heaney, a player so often on the goal trail in maroon and white, and Martin Farragher, in a brief but telling cameo appearance, paved the way for what was a comfortable win over a side the Tribesmen dismantled by a 21-point margin at this exact juncture a year prior.
