Canning's a cut above

BACK in 2012, when Joe Canning nailed the 73rd minute free that levelled the All-Ireland final, necessitating a replay, Mattie Kenny couldn't have been happier.
A Galway selector at the time, he had a fair idea what was coming next when Davy Glennon was fouled by Jackie Tyrrell and Canning stood up to take the free.
That same sense of inevitability prevailed on Sunday at Parnell Park when, in the 73rd minute again, Canning stood over a sideline cut on the right, about 30 metres out.
