Sylane secure their safety

AN exceptional final quarter showing from Sylane ensured they dispatched Castlegar with plenty to spare and secured their Intermediate Hurling Championship status for 2019 in the process.
For long spells of Sunday's game in a freezing Athenry venue, both teams served up an advertisement for summer hurling, as difficult November conditions meant plenty of handling errors and misplaced passes due to cold hands and a greasy ball.
But in flashes in the early stages and throughout a sublime closing 15 minutes, Sylane showed real quality in dishing out what was perhaps a harsh result for their city opponents.
