New play for Pieta House
TWO Tuam men with a passion for theatre are going on stage this weekend with a production of a play dealing with the trauma of suicide.
The Prodigal, written by Andrew Carney, will be performed by the author and his namesake Tom Carney at three venues on successive nights: The Rustic Vaults, Vicar Street, Tuam on Friday (Aug 10); Sheridan’s, Milltown on Saturday night and Walsh’s, Dunmore on Sunday night.
Each show (duration 50 minutes) will start at 8pm; admission at the door, €10, and all proceeds will go to Pieta House, Bishop Street, Tuam.
The play deals with the difficulties facing two men struggling to come to terms with loss: Andy and his estranged father Benny, after the suicide of Andy’s brother Seán.
