County Fleadh promises to be a momentous occasion

THE fervour with which young people are embracing traditional Irish music and dance in Tuam has been described as “breathtaking” ahead of the town hosting the County Galway Fleadh for the first time in decades.

Sean-nós singing, dance and a variety of music provided a lively and entertaining backdrop to the launch of the Fleadh which will attract thousands to the town over the weekend of May 18-20.
Huge praise was paid to the volunteers who have successfully revived the Tuam branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann (CCE) which has more than 170 members of all ages who take weekly classes in music, song and dance.
