President made Galway links in New Zealand

WHEN President Michael D Higgins visited the University of Auckland in New Zealand last week he was linked with two North Galway men, one from Kilkerrin and the other who was born in Moylough.

During his visit President Higgins met with Kilkerrin native Oliver Lee who is a popular radio presenter and publisher in New Zealand.
Speaking at the University of Auckland the president also referred to Sir George Maurice O’Rorke who was born in Moylough in the 1830s. He went on to become an educationalist and one of the most prominent politicians in New Zealand in the latter decades of the 19th century.
