Councillors say no to seeking Greenway study

THE thumbs down has been given to a proposal for a feasibility study for a greenway beside the railway track between Athenry and Tuam.
With the votes ties at 16 for and 16 against at Galway Co Council’s meeting on Monday, five abstaining and two absent, it was the casting vote of Cathaoirleach Michael Connolly that was decisive.
In a debate that lasted over two hours it was only when CEO Kevin Kelly said that they needed clarity regarding what should be done that the vote was taken.
