County homeless numbers at highest ever

THE number of homeless families seeking assistance in Co Galway reached its highest ever to date in Christmas week.
Galway Co Council confirmed that just days before Christmas its homeless service was providing assistance to 16 homeless families in areas throughout the county – an unprecedented number.
There were also a further 12 single homeless people being supported by the local authority. These figures exclude Galway city.
