ANNAGHDOWN ladies are the All-Ireland Intermediate Club champions for 2016 and nobody can say they don’t deserve that mantle after a stirring second half proved too good for Armagh and Ulster standard bearers Shane O’Neills on Sunday.
It was a special day for all involved — players, management and their loyal band of supporters that turned Parnell Park maroon and white for the afternoon.
Overseeing it all was manager Tom Murphy and his backroom team of Richard McNicholas, Claire Burke and player/selector Fiona Wynne, and afterwards Murphy paid tribute to the contribution of his entire panel.
“Every single one of them, they’re a credit to their parish, they’re a credit to their families and they’re a credit to themselves,” said Murphy.
