Tuam IWA celebrates 40th anniversary

THE remarkable contribution made by volunteers and the community to the Tuam branch of the Irish Wheelchair Association will be celebrated at a special dinner marking the 40th anniversary of the branch.
The Tuam IWA branch was first formed on November 29, 1976. It followed on from the town hosting a group as part of a national IWA holiday and advice was sought from the Ballinasloe IWA branch which was already formed at the time.
The branch has continued to flourish and some of those involved at the start, such as Margaret Cunningham from Newbridge and Phil Quinn from Mountbellew, now avail of the day services offered at the Tuam IWA Centre at The Glebe.
