Four families from Syria will be given a fresh start in Tuam homes

TUAM has been chosen to host four families of Syrian Refugees as part of a programme agreed with the United Nations Humanitarian Commission on Refugees (UNHCR) to support the resettlement of refugees from camps in Lebanon.
Director of Services with Galway County Council  Michael Owens says that Co Galway has been chosen to host a number of Syrian Refugee families who are to be resettled in Ireland.

However, remarks by Turloughmore’s Cllr Frank Kearney regarding his municipal council area “getting more Syrian refugees than the Tuam area” adding “we can pass a few on to ye if needed” caused uproar at a meeting of Galway Co Council on Monday.
