Caherlistrane has honour of Top Young Farmer in Ireland

Caherlistrane is home to Ireland’s Young Farmer of the Year. Kevin Moran (23), who has 220 dairy cows on a little over 200 acres in two farms near Lissdonagh, has been presented with the prestigious award.
But juggling his farm work with playing football for Caherlistrane has not been easy for Kevin this year because he broke his hand on the football field and his nose while working on the farm. So it was the football that was sidelined as he worked hard to win the 18th FBD Young Farmer of the Year title.
A native of Taugheen, Co. Mayo, Kevin has been farming in Caherlistrane, firstly on his uncle Joe’s farm from the age of 19 in 2013 and, since last year, also on his uncle Michael’s farm nearby.
