Boozy lunches prompt more daytime Garda checkpoints

LADIES who might enjoy boozy lunches or workmates popping for a few drinks are taking risks and driving home.
These are among the groups who will be targeted by more daytime checkpoints across the county over the coming months.
The number of motorists caught drunk-driving in the county areas so far this year is down by 17 per cent compared to the same period last year. However, Chief Supt Tom Curley is adamant drink-driving is still a significant problem in the region.
