Harper's bi-centenary will be marked in Galway

A HARPER who died 200 years ago will be celebrated on Thursday August 25when Nun’s Island Theatre will resound with the bell-like sounds of Ireland’s iconic instrument, the brass-strung early Irish harp.
Siobhán Armstrong and Ann Heymann, two of the finest early Irish harpists in the world today, will be joined by well-known Galway-based sean-nós singer and piper Éamonn ” Bróithe in a celebration of the bicentenary of Arthur ” Néill, one of the last of the travelling harpers, who died in 1816.
