Castletown project carries on despite damp festival

AS it did all over the county, Sunday’s persistent rain greatly reduced the numbers at the Castletown Summer Festival at Ballyglunin Station.
But the organisers have taken the setback in their stride, and have vowed to continue their mission to restore the station made famous by The Quiet Man.
A gift of timber from Erin, Tennessee, will be put to good use restoring the roof, which is badly in need of repair.
There was entertainment on the platform on Sunday afternoon, an array of stalls and stands, and drama on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the former storehouse.
