Old Ballygar courthouse is restored and given new life
Former President of Ireland Dr Mary McAleese will be in Ballygar on Sunday, July 17 at 12 noon to officially open the refurbished old courthouse which has been restored in a way that incorporates its 1850 origins with a contemporary community space and small theatre.
The facility was used as a courthouse until the late 1940s and Tomás Kenny, Secretary of the Ballygar Tidy Towns Committee said their idea in restoring it was to incorporate the best of the past with the present.
