A colourful, lively and engaging lookback on country life of 1916

HAY was tumbled in, eggs were cracked, wood was turned and many fields in Athenry were ploughed – all as part of the live exhibition of how rural life was a century ago.
Some 50,000 visitors walked through the Time Tunnel at Teagasc’s Mellows Campus in Athenry and entered a world gone back to when the horse was a farmer’s biggest status symbol and school work was done with chalk and slate.
The Farming and Country Life 1916 hosted jointly by Teagasc and Galway Co Council has been lauded as one of the most successful and imaginative 1916-themed events so far this year.
