Rates refund needed for rural revival

RURAL towns and villages will have to wait six months before they know if they will benefit from a new business incentive scheme, being launched by Galway County Council next month.
Businesses setting up in vacant commercial premises in the main county towns will get their rates paid back over three years.
However, many of the smaller towns in the north of the county such as Dunmore, Williamstown and Mountbellew are ineligible as they do not come under a local area plan at council level.
